Concerning “Lost Hedgehog Tales”

Hi there, Internet. We need to clear something up.

First, the short version: “Lost Hedgehog Tales” is still happening, but there is no time-table. It will be done one day, but I don’t know when that will be.

Moving on to the long version, I’ll start off with apologizing. I’m sorry. I really, truly am. I thought it would be a much faster turn-around, and I ended up getting people’s hopes up that it would be done quickly. That didn’t happen for a number of reasons; some personal, all private. And looking back over the past couple of years, it’s turned out for the better – again, for reasons I can’t get into publicly.

But there also needs to be a level of understanding on your end, Internet. For one thing I’m not obligated to do this at all. I’m receiving no compensation for it. It is time and energy being expended solely for the benefit of the fans of my old run. I’m doing it to honor your commitment to storylines that were lost to all of us. Remember: the rug was pulled out from under my feet as much as yours.

Secondly, there’s a long list of things that take priority over “Lost Hedgehog Tales.” I’m glad so many people want to know what I wanted to do with the series, but these are ultimately fan ideas. They aren’t sponsored by Archie or SEGA. I doubt either company even knows I’m doing this. This project is entirely on my shoulders. But my family comes first. The current direction of the Sonic books come first. Running the BumbleKast, finding new work and launching new projects all come first. I must devote myself to the “Now” before I get to the “What might’ve been.”

Again, I’m sincerely sorry it’s taken so long, but it will have to wait for more important things to be done first. And I refuse to be bullied or heckled again into rushing out more chapters like I did with Chapter 1. I am a man of my word and I will see this through to the end – eventually. So until then thank you again for your patience and your understanding.

Addendum: Another factor some people aren’t aware of, or do not take into consideration, is the continued litigation surrounding the material “Lost Hedgehog Tales” would cover. While I take great pains to make it clear I am not a representative of Archie Comics, it would not be hard for someone to use my work to cause confusion. So until all legal concerns are resolved, it’s in my best interest to not get underfoot and keep this project on the shelf. (Sept. 26th, 2016)
