Did they? I thought Sonic Team did, and they just characterized them/gave them dialogue.

I'd kinda prefer if the worlds were "real," so to speak, but... I'm okay with this.

I mean, the rumor is most likely fake, so it's a shame. If it WERE real though I'd absolutely be okay with a Sega and All Stars Sonic game. That's a crazy fun concept.

What? How? It's just pictures of a big Sega 25th Anniversary showcase that points no evidence whatsoever that they are developing a game. Even the article states: "Sadly there are still no clues on the content for the next big Sonic game, however with Sega promoting the 25th as being classic and heritage based and also confirming that they are intending to celebrate it, to not have a game which ties into this seems like a missed opportunity."
It's a straight up opinion. Sega could just be celebrating it and not put a game out. Like the writer says, it would be a heck of a missed opportunity for Sega not to put out a game (which I do agree) but there is no solid evidence of one coming.

I agree. I don't think this information is true. Nothing in the article says anything about that game happening.
Of course, i really hope there is a game for the 25th anniversary, as
- It's a big anniversary
- They've made games for the 15th and 20th
- It's the biggest one yet.
Anyway, here's what i want for the 25th.
SONIC THE HEDGEHOG: WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE.
Story: Dr. Eggman is planning to take over the entire multiverse! To stop him, Sonic must bring along..
Classic Sonic, Tails, and Amy...
Boom Sonic, Tails, Amy, Knuckles, and Sticks...
AoStH Sonic and Tails...
The Freedom Fighters from SatAM...
The Freedom Fighters from Archie...
The Freedom Fighters from Underground...
Sonic, Tails, Amy, Knuckles, and the other heroes, from X...
And the many friends (Vector, Espio, Charmy, Rouge, Big, Blaze, and oh so many more) from the main games.
Gameplay:
You can play as only a few characters at first, but more get unlockable as it goes along
Each world consists of 3 fan favorite levels from each game, as well as environments based on AoStH, SatAm, Archie, Underground, and X
Soundtrack will consist of songs from those levels, but you can unlock more songs to play
Gameplay mechanics will be based off of each of those (Don't worry, no alternate gameplay styles)
For example, The first world will play like Sonic 1, Sonic 2 like Sonic 2, and so on.
Boss Battles will be the final bosses from each game.
Dialogue:
Peppered with jokes about each game/comic/show.
Other:
Tie-in arcs for Boom and Archie
Two other products released.
- Sonic 25th Anniversary Collection: A collection of all Sonic games
- Supersonic Hits: The Best Of Sonic The Hedgehog: Collection of fan favorite tracks.
A man can dream...

It also says that Sega is promoting other franchises. Last I heard Sonic was the only brand they really cared about licensing. Also, don't forget that it's also the Megadrive's 25th.

Nope, the Mega Drive came out in 1988. Sonic was not a launch title.

The Master System is even older. That was 1985.

Nope. Released in 1985 and was readily available until early '90s.
But yeah, Master System is 30 years old.

Next year would be the Sega CD's 25th anniversary and the Game Gear's using the US and EU release dates. It's not one of the core Seha Girls, but still.

I personally wouldn't be interested in a Sega Generations game. I like Sonic, and i'm open to the other franchises, but I don't want to be exposed to them through a Sonic title. I like Sega Superstars Tennis and the Sonic & All-Stars Racing games. I hated Worlds Unite. Doing that with a mainstream Sonic game would be utterly dull to me, and it certainly wouldn't feel like a Sonic game.

Give me a Sega Superstars book. I'll gladly read that. Then maybe I'd be interested in related media.

Geez, is Lost World really the only main series game released since Generations came out for the 20th anniversary? It doesn't feel long ago that we got a 3D platformer yearly. Sega must really be struggling.

Thank you Finally Someone says it. I swear some people just like to say that Sega just can't do anything right even when they're doing exactly what people ask them.
