Hey guys! Sorry for the absence here - I'd not been to the forum in forever and figured I definitely owe an update to you all since discussion has picked back up.
Anywho - yes, I've moved home to be closer to my mom as she goes through cancer, but that was all of October ago and she's since been quite well these past few months. We're actually on our third move, now, looking for permanent digs, so that has had a bit of a thing to do with my lack of updating. More to the point, though, my husband and I found out we were expecting our first child about 4 months ago and it's really kicked our butts into high gear when it comes to working. I'm lucky, as it's been a very uneventful pregnancy, but I've still had to contend with being chief breadwinner while going to appointments for the kiddo, only up until recently when the old man finally landed a position full-time. :) So, while things are looking up, I personally am still in the midst of a lot of stuff as I transition
back to what I'd hoped for all-along: more time to do comics. Until then, I'm still obliged to cover what has become an abundance of absentee shifts as a per-diem at the hospital (I'm a hematology/lab/phlebotomy specialist when I'm not doing art - a gig I returned to when we fist moved from Columbus)
So! To the point! I'm the absolute true culprit here, as I have the final three pages of the first chapter on my art desk needing the bare minimum of finishes, but due to an unsteady work schedule (see above), I have yet to put the requisite time in to finish them. I type this now from the road, where I'm on my way to a consulting gig, for instance. Good news? I've spoken with my supervisors about the need to work fewer hours at the lab, and they assure me they'll be able to accomodate as summer goes on. The other good news - it might be a moot point as this consulting business I am currently starting may mean an end to such extra gigs, entirely. Either way, I am fully committed to keeping Sylvanna going, despite recent downtime.
Now, I totally understand that may not be enough for those of you who contributed to the Kickstarter, and I would be happy to hear you out on how I can make amends, personally. Please shoot me an email to
dawnbest@outlook.com and I promise I'll make it right. :)
All the best, guys! Sorry for the lateness in my reply!
Dawn
