The most positive aspect though, if the fact that Okami, one of the games that they decided not to advertise and sold poorly because Capcom expects people to know the games and not bother advertising. Okami got a sequel. So maybe not all hope is lost.

Does it have to be ONE game or can it be multiple games in a series? The VC/PSN rereleases combined could possibly break 2 million! I also bought MM9 and MM10 for the Wii U's Wii feature, too.

Either way, i will do my part by getting all possible Mega Man games from the Virtual Console. When i can afford it. XD

Tcat wrote:Being that MMX/Zero is only my SECOND favourite OF ALL TIME game series I feel I should point out that it's not just Capcom doing this.... though MM fans seem to be the loudest when it comes to feeling like their owed a new game.

To put it in perspective:

Legacy of Kain: The Dark Prophecy was in development for barely four months, and it took nine years for any materials to be made public.
Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun was in development for over three years (if you include preproduction) and very little was ever released to the public until early 2014.

Square Enix eventually projected that the game wouldn’t reach their sales expectations, and they decided to cancel it in 2012. Sources speculate that as the company had invested no money into marketing at this point, it was an easy decision for them. Some of the development team were not told about the cancellation, and still came in on their weekends to work on the game while Square Enix executives knew it would not be coming out.

Everyone acts like Capcom is some kind of devil.. but seriously, they're just the ones getting the most flack. THIS KIND OF THING HAPPENS ALL THE TIME.

THANK you, that was what I was trying to say.

Nevermind that, even if Bradygames managed to tell the truth for once, that's still a very small number.

I love Mega Man, don't get me wrong, but I know that most of the fanbase feels like they're entitled to EVERYTHING. They feel like, just because Mega Man was at a time an unofficial Mascot (NEVER officially), that it means that Mega Man should get a free pass from internal workings. Capcom's Mascot back in Mega Man's heyday was Captain Commando. And it took YEARS for him to get his own game. Capcom doesn't give their Mascots a free pass.

I don't know I personally still suspect that is bitterness over Megaman at the current Capcom due to his creator's sudden departure
I just think they are taken out their anger and frustration at the Blue Bomber and try to make up reasons not to make another Megaman game. :/

Counterpoint: Amy Hennings left the Legacy of Kain team as head of like...everything to join with Naughty Dog (who eventually went on to make Uncharted) and we haven't had a Legacy of Kain game since.

Again, happens ALL the time ;p

Exactly! And look at the Crash Bandicoot series as of right now. I don't think we'll be expecting anything, even for his anniversary. I don't even expect we'll get an HD remake of the first three games any time soon...

Besides, Mega Man isn't the only series who has been swept under the rug. Okami, Ace Attorney, Viewtiful Joe...

Crash Bandicoot should have joined the Skylanders with his buddy Spyro.

Except Inafune didn't CREATE Mega Man, he may have worked on a few titles and handled the likes of Zero, but he was mostly just a face for the franchise. Granted, being the guy who greenlights games goes a long way to getting games made, but he's hardly the be all end all when it comes to Mega Man

Ace Attorney got Dual Destinies, a prequel is in the works, and it got that Layton crossover game. (Okami also got Okamiden, and Joe got at least 2 sequels before being dropped.)

...A crossover game! Smash sold a ton of money. I bet that'd help Mega Man a ton! :)

Amy Hennings didn't create Legacy of Kain either, well, partially, she had a big hand in making it though. She was the poster girl for the series though and was really tied with the fans.

That's true, but he also kept it relevant by spinning it off and going with the retro revivals. His decisions weren't always good, but it's clear that he helped keep that and other Capcom series going when the brass were ready to go with their all or nothing strategy.

Think of him as the godfather of Mega Man rather than the father. He took care of it very well... when the company wasn't going behind his back to do stuff like X6 and X7.

Actually, X6 wasn't a bad game << In fact, I prefer how it left things than how X5 did. But nevermind. :P

Again, you guys are just taking one thing and ignoring how MANY other companies do the same thing and are going "OMG! Capcom hates Mega Man!".

No. You're blowing things out of proportion. -_-

Its a mega man thread in a mega man board for the mega man comic and we're mega man fans, of course we're focusing on Mega Man and want more of it.

I wouldn't call it blowing it out of proportion. Mega Man seems like a thing in the past to Capcom. The only games that feature Mega Man Characters recently are Project X Zone and Smash 4 and those games weren't even fully made by Capcom. And Capcom told fans that Mega Man or X aren't "popular' enough to be in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, all we got is Zero and Tron Bonne. Mega Man's 25th Birthday and all Capcom gave the fans is a fan made game. Capcom doesn't care about Mega Man and Judging by this decision they made, Mega Man seems like a dead Franchise.

maybe if peopel bug Nintendo, they'd get Sora to make one after Smash 4 is done
