It's been a long time coming, but the comic finally jumps into Mega Man 3!

(W) Ian Flynn (A) Gary Martin & Various (CA) Patrick Spaz Spaziante
The all-new storyline begins here! The epic adaptation of the legendary game, Mega Man 3, begins with 'Legends of the Blue Bomber' Part One: We've seen Mega Man battle Robot Masters plenty of times before, but now witness the mechanical madness unfold as only the Masters' masters see it! Get a birds-eye view of battle from the lens of the great (and not-so-great) Doctors that have created our heroes and menaces! But how is this all playing into Dr. Wily's hands? Find out in this battle royale you definitely won't want to miss out on! Featuring new cover art from Patrick 'Spaz' Spaziante, plus an awesome 'movie poster' variant from Vince Riley! Note price.

Yay, they made Wily's face less creepy on the cover.

I'm glad we're moving into Mega Man 3. It's hard to believe all the build-up this game has gotten. I'd say it's been too long, but honestly everything that's happened along the way has been pretty great so I can't complain.

What I could complain about though is that it looks like we're getting another game story crammed into four issues. Considering how much Mega Man 3 has going on...I really don't see that helping the pacing much AT ALL.

Mega Man #39 Covers and Solicit

This is issue #41 as far as I can tell.

Happy to see we're finally going to be getting the MM3 adaption, especially after all the build up, and I'm looking forward to seeing Ian's take on it.

Ideally I wouldn't want another four-issue game adaption so maybe the first four issues of the adaption deal with Mega Man fighting the Robot Masters and the next four begin with Wily's betrayal and deal with Mega Man taking on Break Man, the remaining MM2 Robot Masters and Wily? Because I really can't see all of that fitting into just four issues well.

Though I'm quite interested to see what the solicit means by "Get a birds-eye view of battle from the lens of the great (and not-so-great) Doctors that have created our heroes and menaces!"

What I'm really interested is how they'll handle Break Man's development and eventual change of heart over his 'brother."

According to the variant cover, POWREE's doing interiors again. (Awesome!)

Still a bit disappointed that they're using those sidebars here too, but it's not the worst thing ever.

Bird's eye view of the battle and from the doctor's view? Sounds interesting!

I wonder how many Robot Master will Mega Man will go through in each issue.

If they still have to factor in Wily's betrayal, Doc Robot, Break Man, possibly a Wily Castle, and Gamma. I'd say four an issue, with the last two focusing on the rest of the stuff.

Maybe showing the fights through the the doctors' POV is a means of shortening them or saving page space for the rest of the adaption?

But then again, didn't Ian say he was going to go about adapting MM3 differently compared to the last two main games? I still think it's a good idea to separate the adaption into two four issue arcs.

Archie has done a much, MUCH better job with pacing since the horribly rushed Mega Man 2 adaptation, so I have faith that Mega Man 3 will be adapted in a much more elegant manner.

And as usual, the covers are rocking.

Strangely, the variant solicit mentions Mega Man fighting Top Man and Snake Man this issue while the regular solicit doesn't.

Gotta love the striking resemblance to the original Japanese box art. Story wise, I am really hoping this isn't rushed. There is a lot more material to work with in the third game with the Doc Robots and Break Man constantly appearing. I really hope it is done well!

I think this might have been more in line with the original intent.
