It would be cool to see more of what they are doing and how they are handling the issues that they face. Vile in particular is a character I would like to see developed within the issues, since there can be more to him than simply wanting to be better than X and Zero, which is already pretty similar to characters like Quick Man and Bass, and even Sonic characters like Metal Sonic. Y'know, to make the good guys and bad guys not seem so black and white.

However, I still feel that an entire issue with each Maverick would get a little tedious. I understand what you mean by making the characters have more depth by making their levels and situations more interesting and dire. It makes me think that if there was a weekly Mega Man X show, one episode or two would be about X trying to handle the various situations between the stages and Maverick battles. But for a monthly issue? I think it would be best for the adaptations to be six issue arcs, and with some small side stories around it, kind of like the Ra Moon story. That would give some pretty decent time to develop Vile and the Maverick Hunters.

But we already have the games for characters like Zero and Vile. We know that Gravity beetle is out to avenge his brother, but how does he FEEL about it? what drove him to choose to go Maverick to reach that revenge? What was Crush Crawfish built for? Why did he go crazy? How did Web Spider know zero? What was Blizzard Buffallo's life like before he was infected with the Maverick virus? This is all stuff the comic can and should get to. Honestly I'm not looking forward to Ian's take on X and Zero fighting Sigma for the nth time, I'm more interested in the stuff the games don't show

How did Web Spider know zero?

"In the past, he was a member of the 0th Special Force with Zero."

So we need to see them working together sometime during the comic before the X4 adaptation happens, I suppose. Even if its just in one story before X4. A lot of stuff for later adaptations can happen before the actual Adaptation takes place. Like Magna Centipede and Blast Hornet were both Maverick Hunters who were corrupted by some reason to become Mavericks. We'll need to see their pre Maverick lives.

All of this makes me realize there was an awful lot of telling and not showing in the X games.

EDITS: Whichis why, like Indigo says, I'm more interested in the stuff the game said than the actual adaptations of the games.

The X games feel like the Mavericks are dead for sure, unlike the Mega Man series. I'm all for giving them character but it would just be a festival of grief when the innocent types are slaughtered to follow the game. X would just mope more and more.

In that case, what you're really arguing isn't longer game adaptations. It's just more material outside of the game adaptations. I still think there's a lot of Mavericks that are flatter than Robot Masters and don't really deserve much screentime, but having a fleshed out setting and cast to work with isn't something anybody's arguing against. It also has nothing to do with the 4-issue format, which tries to compact too many events into too little pages, but in no way precludes characters existing and growing outside of those 4 issues.

That's what I mean. I find there's nothing wrong with making four issue formats of adventures some of the Maverick Hunters had than fleshing out the main adaptations. I mean, it would be too much of a whiplash if we go back to back games. Shadow of Ra Moon pulled that off nicely, being able to flesh out some characters without dragging it out too much. I'm hoping to see the same with the X Adaptations.

I'm especially interested to see a story with Shield Sheldon cause he worked with a scientist and accused of being a maverick after being forced to retire the scientist when he went maverick. Seriously, that's something to really flesh out, the Maverick accusations that were so treaded upon lightly in the game (and the main premise of the entire fourth game!)

Welcome to 1993, when what we did see was a lot for something that wasn't an RPG, and just a lot for Mega Man in general.

I remember regaling others with what happened in the game and just blowing their minds with that alone.
