Shame that variant isn't the main cover. It's really nice. The main cover's well-drawn, but really boring. It's just Mega Man and Rush flying on a generic background.

Yeah, I think the variant is more fitting. The main cover isn't bad, though.

Variant is VERY fitting. I have a feeling more people will end up wanting that version.

I read the solicit somewhere, and it seemed that the issue wasn't about Wily's Trial, but more of an aftermath of him getting his name cleared.

I think the variant cover's more alluring. It should've been the main cover.

Agreed. I'd rather have it tan the regular cover.

I like Spaz's cover more. It's dynamic and eye-catching, even if there's not actually anything going on.

So I'm the only one who finds the variant cover kinda ugly?

I mean yeah, it is more appropriate given what the content will be about, but I still prefer the penciling of the main one.

I prefer the standard cover as well because it's so bright and inviting. It also reminds me of Yuji Uekawa's artstyle. (That's the guy that's been doing the production art for Sonic games since Adventure.) Kind of like Sonic Universe #52's standard cover. And, well... that style lends itself very well to Mega Man.

And guys... POWREE. More POWREE. POWREE is doing the interiors again. POWREE. #powree

After seeing the interiors in MM issue 33, that is good news!

I love the cover the imagery of Wily being escorted by Mega Man and Gil Stern avoiding the Press it really tells you what the story will be like wonder what the variant looks like...What's that...That is the Variant...Then what's the Main Cover?

Oh, Oh. Yeah not a fan of the main cover. It's a nice image of Rock and Rush but it's so bare and bland. It's a yellow background with nothing really there except for those giant words proudly proclaiming "Jumping on Point."

About that how exactly is an issue all about Wily trying to atone for his past crimes a "Jumping on point" exactly? I just can't help but imagine a sea of astrix's showing up throughout the issue.

Either way I'm excited for it. It should be an interesting story and Holy Crap yes more Powree art.

I've noticed that the BumbleKingers generally don't appreciate simple-yet-bold illustrations like this. Tracy's cover for StH#259 got similar criticism.

In the case of MM#36...
For new readers, a cover like that (simple, colorful, and just focusing on the main character doing his thing) is more inviting and less intimidating than a busy illustration of a mad scientist in prison attire being escorted away from the press.

Not to say that the variant is bad or that "busy" is a negative description... but, for the intention of being a "now's a good chance to jump into the comic if you haven't yet" issue, you need something simple and expressive like this standard cover.

This isn't the first time this has been done, either. There are a lot of covers that are general illustrations of the series as a whole rather than a representation of the issue's contents. MM#5 immediately comes to mind, but the same could be said about #12 and #20. And even when the cover seems to be a specific illustration of the content, it's often slightly off (#6, #11) or completely wrong altogether (#16, #17).

We get it. I like Her(?) art just as much as you but dont go all gaga over it.

Is it a running theme now that most of the MM Variant are better than the main cover?

Too late. I've gone full gaga over her. There's no turning back.
