Archie's Mega Man Chronology (Complete, Mirror Available)

Postby Mavrickindigo » Tue Dec 18, 2012 10:55 am

NOTE: Since BumbleKing is ending soon, I have gone and made a copy of this timeline over on my own site. You can find it here http://forum.rphaven.net/viewtopic.php?f=107&t=3428

The following is a Chronological representation of the events that happen in Archie's "Mega Man" Continuity. The Main Timeline shows a detailed representation of events and when they occur in the comic's continuity. However, since Time Travel is prevalent in the series, elements of time travel are referenced in the order in which they were first presented to the reader by numbering them by instance of time travel and by step. Some steps of the time travel appear in multiple timelines, and this is because the travel has resulted in a split in the timeline at some point. The following time travel instances are presented below with a brief summary of their importance.

1. Mega Man's Journey during Rock of Ages
This time travel is proven to be within another universe, as some events don't match up to the story as presented in the "present" of the comic. When Mega Man and Bass destroy the Time Anomaly that causes Mega Man to travel into the future, it propels Xander Payne further into the future himself.
2. Bass's Journey during Rock of Ages Bass hitches a ride on Mega Man's journey through time and helps him defeat the Time Anomaly, but what happens to him is uncertain.
3. World's Collide Dr. Wily pushes the world into the future in relation to other universes in the Multiverse. Because of this "Worlds Collide" happens before "Worlds Unite" from Sonic's POV, but no one from Mega Man's world remembers it when "Worlds Unite" starts.
4. Xander's Journey in Dawn of X Xander learns some truth on his journey into the future, and gains the ability to create portals with his robotic eye.
5. Silver's Journey to close the Genesis Portals The Genesis Portals, seemingly created from the events of "Worlds Collide," allow Sigma to travel into the past and link the Multiverse together.
6. Sigma's Time Travel
7. Maverick Hunters Travel to the Past to Catch Sigma
8. Xander's shot
9. Worlds Unite Paradox
10. Mr. X's Origin
11. Dr. Light's Vision
12. Wily's Journey to the Future
13. Mr. X's Trip through a Genesis Portal

Because there are multiple crossovers, as well as various spin off comics and one-shots, each comic series is coded by color.

Comic Series are marked by color
Free Comic Book Day
Mega Man
Sonic Boom
Sonic the Hedgehog
Sonic Super Special Magazine
Sonic Unverse
Worlds Unite Battles

After all instances of retcons and alternate universes and time travel, this is how the Timeline looks.

Rock of Ages parts should be split up into the games they are adpted from, Maybe under an other or unknown category, I might put Dr. LaLinde's flashback of Tempo's accident under that category. It had to have happene between Proto-type and Spiritus Ex Machina most likly closer like right befor Spiritus Ex Machina.

Are events that where talked about but haven been shown yet go anywhere? Because Wily did something that got him barred from Robotics even befor the events of Proto-type.

Probably the earliest thing to put in would be Ra Moon's arrival on Earth, but the book hasn't covered that yet.

Another thing probably worth listing would be the time that Light, Wily, Cossack, and Lalinde spent at the Robot/Robert School of Technology.

Speaking of Ra Moon, The Wily parts of Spiritus Ex Machina should be noted in someway to be part Ra Moon storyline of the upcomming Rockman Adventure/Ra Moon Saga.

Also

Saga 5 Proto-type
Mega Man #17: Prototype (Introduction)
Mega Man #18: Prototype (Present day)
Mega Man #17: Construction Derby
Mega Man #18: Cold Feat

Maybe that should be added to Rock of Ages Saga, Those stories do have a common theme of past, present and future. Proto-type arc explores the past. Construction Derby and Cold Feat tale place in the present. Roll With It! has Tempo dealing with the past also like of forshadows somethings. Rock of Ages, pretty much takes place in the future.

Once Issue 21 comes out, I'll start splitting Rock of Ages accordingly.

I might put Dr. LaLinde's flashback of Tempo's accident under that category. It had to have happene between Proto-type and Spiritus Ex Machina most likly closer like right befor Spiritus Ex Machina.

When did the flashback take place? In which issue?

Considering how messy Time Travel can get, we'll have to wait and see. Having some backstory throughout the tenure of the comic series could cause some issues, especially if they have something on Wily's story, and maybe even Tempo.

I'll keep my eye out, though. xD

Reifu's is much easier to work with, actually. Gives a tiny explanation of everything that happened in between issues, and makes it less confusing.

Ah, you're right. It does.

Also I removed Worlds Collide, becuase we'll have no idea how it will fit, especially with the 'not too distant future" of "Rock of Ages"

Good idea. It could mess things up in the future chronologically.

If Worlds Collide is canon, it would have to happen after Mega Man 7, unless Bass somehow shows up for some other reason.

after a few issues, I think "Rock of Ages" will be moved around quite a bit until Mega Man beats Gamma

Still think that the Wily half of Spiritus Ex Machina should be noted as it's own story, All the cover in that arc features the ARTS half of the story. Atleast something like Mega Man #13-16: Spiritus Ex Machina Part 1-4 (Rockman Adventure prologue). I wonder if theres an offical name for that side story though?

I don't see a need for it. It's part of the arc, and happening at the same time. If you're reading this in chronological order, you'll catch the side plot in its proper order.
