Mega Man Fan Games

Postby Astrobot7000 » Thu Jan 23, 2014 3:48 pm

Has anyone played any Mega Man fan games? Many of them are pretty terrible, but there are some gems mixed in. The two best ones, in my opinion, are Mega Man Unlimited and Mega Man Rock Foce. The latter has the best Robot Master acquired weapons of the whole series.

Some of these fan games are of such high quality they are better than Mega Man 9 and 10. Especially Mega Man Unlimited, which does a great job of begining to bridge the gap between the Classic and X series. It also has the best last boss ever.

What do you guys think? Do you think some of these fan games deserve more credit than they are given?

I have a preference over the hacks than the fangames, cause most of the ones I've seen haven't been playtested very well. Hacks can be hit and miss, but the ones I've seen (Rock Man 4 Minus Infinity and Rock Man Air Slider) are awesome.

Some are just freaking hilarious. Like Cut Man's Bad Scissors Day.

Anyone think that this should be in the KK? They are fan games, after all.

Spoiler: show
Not one word.

Yeah, especially in light of the fact that the Sonic counterpart was moved to the Kreative Korner.

I think it's a bit too harsh of a line in the sand, but that's fair I suppose.

Welp, it's been moved.

The only MM fan games I've played are Chrono X (a Battle Network fan game) and one that I can't remember the name of (not right off the bat, anyway), but I remember the first level had too many enemies placed in weird spots in the first level. I gave up quickly, and played other games instead. Street Fighter X Mega Man started as a fan game, but being promoted into an official one, I'm not sure if it counts.

I remember a fan game made in Newgrounds that allowed you to play as Fire Man. Thought it was pretty neat back then.

Was it "hot?"

Oh, snap! I'm on fire today!

"Fire!" I did it again!

Though, seriously, was it cool?

Eh, it was okay. Not a masterpiece like the original series, but it had its fun moments. Go on Newgrounds and look it up if you feel like giving it a try!

I highly recommend you guys check out Mega Man Unlimited. It's definitely superior to Mega Man 9 and 10, in my opinion. Plus, the story does a good job of begining to bridge the Classic and X Series.

I also recommend Mega Man Rock Force, because it has some very unique and pretty amazing weapons.
