"Champions" Arc vs Endgame

Postby jazzflower92 » Wed Apr 29, 2015 10:00 pm

Champions' arc has gotten a lot of good reception from people who have given the comics a chance again after the reboot. Some have said this is the reboot era's growing the beard moment.

This in contrast with Endgame which has become deader than disco in the fandom because of the many critiques brought up against it.

I'm pretty sure these two arcs have nothing meaningful in common.

Also, we need TV Tropes links to explain basic phrases now? Really?

At least Champion arc don't have a silly ending with a Sally who ressurect from no-where (hearty laughter)
So I prefer Champion's arc, it's really one of the best sory ever made in the comic. A lot of reference, fight, humour.

While I find Championship waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than Endgame, I don't see a point in comparing them. Those apples and oranges, way different stories.

I really don't see how they are comparable.

One's an engaging narrative with great characterization and artwork and the others Endgame.

I personally really didn't like the champions arc as much as everybody else. I didn't like the art style myself and I thought that the goofiness ruined all of the fights. The only ones I really enjoyed was Knuckles vs. Bark and Sonic vs. Knuckles. I only enjoyed the latter though because of the classic banter between Sonic and Knuckles. The story arc would've been better if it focused more on the character Breezie, as those moments were the most interesting of the arc. That's just me though, I'm sure some preferred this style over the normal serious Archie Sonic storytelling.

On retrospect however, Endgame had a lot of problems too (even if you read the directors cut). I'm sure most people know them already though.

I think my opinions are the same as what the majority have been so far - I much prefer Champions to Endgame, but I'm not seeing the similar grounds on which to compare these two particular arcs.

'Growing the beard moment' as a turn of phrase was a new one to me.

TV Tropes is a pretty effective tool for communication, considering how easily it distills core concepts into basic phrases that can only be inverted or subverted, which ensures preservation of depth.
