You mean you think it's like Antoine voices over all the characters (except for himself I think) in this version of the Genesis Saga?

more or less... yeah :P
Or thats what it feels like anyways.

Maybe it's because SEGA Europe was also involved the process of the book? Ian did say the every SEGA branch was involved in the afterword of Genesis

Yeah okay but nonetheless Archie Comics would have given some kind of authorization to let that happen ... So how come the staff aren't aware of it ?

Actually, given that it's SEGA's licence, couldn't they override Archie on the matter? Genesis isn't like the majority of the comic storylines since it's directly based off Sonic 1 and 2, so they don't even own the rights to the story for it.

Ian has only stated that he, as the writer, wasn't aware of it. No one else above him in the foodchain has commented yet. And by above him, I mean the resident Sonic Editor and Grand Pubah.

That is a line worthy of Dubs.

Wasn't Antoine dubbed as a German in the French dub of SatAM?

Not at all. He sounded like a snob and renamed Antoine de la Renardière. (And in "Robecca" he gives his middle name, it's "Gontran"...Antoine Gontran de la Renardière)

Does the name mean anything, or is it just a random surname?

"Renard" means "fox". "De la Renardière" would mean "from the fox's den", as some people thought Antoine was a fox.

Anyway, I've bought the book. Q, I bought you a copy :)
Here are a few scans.

Hello random cast...

The first two parts are in it and they added the first two pages of the third part as a preview. The second book will be released in November.
After reading it, I'll say that the translation is quite good. Antoine's accent has been replaced by a form of politeness especially towards Sally. I mean, instead of saying "tu" (the familiar version of "you"), he says "vous" (the polite version of "you", the one you use towards someone you don't know or someone higher than you, like a king or teacher.)

My question is do they keep the throwbacks to Mobius Prime? Like Eggman trying to remember exactly what his master plan was supposed to be, or Sonic and Boomer saying a better name for Scrap Brain would be Robotropolis?

Yes.
It's funny because they translated "Scrap Brain zone" as "La zone de ferraille des cerveaux", but they kept "Robotropolis" and "New Megalopolis". Also, about the "tête d'oeuf" we were speaking of earlier, Sonic actually uses it as an insult when he meets Eggman in his Final zone machine.
About his master plan, he says "Je dois juste trouver ce fameux plan. A quoi servira cette station de bataille ?" which means "I just need to find that plan. What's the use of that battle station ?" or something like this :)
