I would say Eggman's mind is consumed by "that rodent!" After being defeated constantly, he must prove to himself he can win. It's an "I gotta win!" kinda thing in my opinion. Added to the "I gotta rule the world!" thing, it's pretty bad.

I doubt world domination is even a factor in his head now. He doesn't care about his empire, not the Republic of Acorn nor his own life. He will kill Sonic by any means, even it means Eggman takes Sonic down with him.

Was I the only one who noticed how PINK the Eggdome was? Seriously, the whole place is pink. Snively's room, the "final showdown" room, all the halls, and the D.E.L. room! What is up with that? I see it as evidence that Doc Eggman has definitely lost it.

Haha! Oh man, you’ve no idea how ridiculously tickled I am that this was noticed. It gives me excuse to expound a bit on some of my processes when coloring the book, so if ya’ll wouldn’t mind indulging me…

When I came aboard as the book’s new colorist, I decided I didn’t want to make too clean/harsh a break from what had come before me. My goal was to be reverent to the world of Mobius, as it was already aesthetically established, while cranking up the colorfulness and stylization in my own way. I wanted it to look like a ‘bowl of candy,’ basically. I still often reference old issues of Mr. Jensen and Mr. Ray’s work to define my approach to the existing world of Mobius, though…

Eggman’s laboratories and facilities have mostly been purples, pinks, and blues for example. (The dark and polluted digs of the Robotnik of yester-year went out with Eggman’s entrance.) They’re garish, flamboyant, and extravagantly shiny and pristine metal. (The interior of the Eggdome is a wonderful contrast to the dreary and darker slums surrounding it – even ‘falling apart’, the place is still shiny and vivid.)

By contrast, I prefer to color New Mobotropolis with lush greens and rustic golds – even the buildings have a much more textured, rustic nature to them compared to the shiny smoothness of Eggman’s labs. It’s overall a much more regal and ‘natural’ looking environment.

The Freedom HQ lab was someplace I got to play around with a bit in my first issue. I always felt it was wa-a-ay too gray – and thus, for someplace so much action happens, rather boring. So I livened it up with some cool blues and bright yellow buttons. Wink

To this day, the biggest challenge when coloring is the ruins of New Megaopolis itself. Previously it’s always been either too pink/purple/’n’shiny or dark and muddy and bleeding all over itself, so I’m still struggling a bit to find the best look for the place.

A lot of thought and some research goes into even the background artwork of this comic – I feel like Mobius is a character itself, so I try to give as much attention to it as I would the character rendering. So I’m super-psyched that it doesn’t go unnoticed! Very Happy

Hey, Matt Herms quoted me! Cool! It's nice to know so much effort goes into the WHOLE comic book process and people put time and thought into how the comic turns out. But I always wondered why Miles is yellow and Tails is orange-brown. I guess this is the wrong thread for that though.

I always thought this was a reference to the fact that Tails himself in the games has ranged from orange (pretty much every 2D Sonic) to yellow (most of the 3D Sonics). Since comic-Tails and Miles are complete opposites, and Tails has been almost exclusively orange in the book over the years, I thought it was a homage to that discrepancy.

But what do I know? ^__^

Herms, dude it's hard not to notice (and I mean that in a good way). Your coloring always seems to make everything pop out from the page (this stuff would look awesome in 3D). All in all you really have a distinctive style and I look forward to more of your work. Very Happy

Kisses are not automatically romantic, you know.

Amy really like Sonic.

So she kisses him, casually.

SEGA itself has apparently mandated that they never hook up, so I doubt you have anything to worry about.

Personally I see it as a sign that Amy and Sonic are destined to be together forever and ever and get married and have dozens of hedgehog babies and Sally can marry Big the Cat because that's the way things should be.

I'd imagine you're right. It's kind of a more subtle version of Rosy being the old design of Amy.

I much prefer Monkey Khan x Sally as a couple. He can whisk her away (again) on his magic cloud. Rolling Eyes

Any other subscribers still waiting on this issue? I think my mail carriers are losing my subscriptions *again*... I'm getting kind of sick of this.

Amazing that it is late for some though. I was at a bookstore recently, and 199 was on the shelf a week before it was supposed to be. Another bookstore close by which carries StH was still selling 198 at the time.
