So many names... I think I'm even more confused than before!
Wait, Menniker was anywhere from fifty to a hundred years old when he talked to Steppenwolf? How did it take that long for such a quickly escalating situation to get to that?! |

This might help.

I'm using approximate dates, so forgive me. Given their appearance I'd guess Menniker was only in his pre-teens or teenage years when his father was buried and presumed dead. He was likely in his twenties or thirties when he established the Dark Legion, though it's possible he was older (he established a pretty large policial movement that nearly caused a civil war, and got them teched out during a time when excess technology was banned, which isn't something you do quickly, especially when everything is secretive). The "appox 400 years" for Dimitri's failed plan (according to the data files) would be closer to 360 years ago but I left it more open as others seemed to have referenced the event being nearly 400 years ago. _________________

WHAT?! NOW? HOLY CHILI DOGS! *shuts trap before going into a chat-speak moment*
Seriously, what is going on? Do they want us to get the comics quickly so we can be even more excited for 200? _________________ Always plotting of how to bring Sonic '06 in the comics.

I absolutely love this issue. A while back in the Charmy thread I commented about Ray, Charmy and Saffron essentially being one character and how everytime they are shown they all perform the same function together. And while that was still true here, this time it was presented great and made them look bad@#$. If more moments for them are presented like this I don't have a problem with the being portrayed as a three man sub group within the Chaotix. I take back my snide remarks about them. Also about the age of Dimitri and the Island thing. I wouldn't quibble over it that subject has never been consitant in this comic ever. When he was first introduced in the Knuckles mini he was said to be over a thousand years old. Then in the ongoing after becoming a cyborg he said he was 400 and that he and his brother lifted the island into the sky. Also those Echidnas who lifted the island to begin with they were retconned from being Dimitri's great great grandparent to just his grandparents. I gave up a long time ago on them keeping it strait. _________________ Everyone wants to get into Heaven but nobody wants to do what it take to get there. |

Don't forget that Dimitri is old, I would be surprised if in the unlikely event he starts to forget a few things.
As for the issue itself, loved it. I really enjoyed the references to issues gone bye, the banter. It was like I was reading a lost episode of SatAM, it was great. A couple things I noticed.
| spoiler wrote: |
1) Sally has never gotten over Sonic, the way that she ended up hugging him right before he shoves off to face Eggman more or less confirms that in my mind.
2) I can plainly see that the Eggman Empire is getting ready for a change in command. Snively, the cape is awesome I only wish it was purple to match SatAM, is all but giddy at the prospect of him finally gaining control. Keep telling yourself that needle nose, I'm sure RF is going to end up back stabbing you the second she gets there.
3) Speaking of back stabbings, Dimitri and Lien-Da seem to be way to accommodating for their new lord high master. I thought Lien-Da made it perfectly clear that she doesn't respect Snively back in StH-194 and now all of a sudden they're calling him sir? It could be that the DL is looking to double cross the coup, which I wouldn't be surprised by in the least, and getting ready to betray Snively the second they get the chance. |
Over all great issue and I hate that we now have to wait a month for 200. Oh well SU #3 should tie me over till then, after all the preview comes out next week. _________________

| They're respecting him because it's his plan they're following, and he's in charge of their safety. It's a respect for a boss, not a respect of the man. |

Even if he is old, didn't he spend most of that time unconscious under a mountain? Given the short amount of time he actually spent running around as Enerjak, how much more than Knuckles can he actually know?
And hey, the Days of Fury are even worse. They've been said to variously be 3000, 12,000, more than 10,000, and "several centuries" years ago. Granted, if you take the 3000 out of that line up, the others work. |

But the Days of Fury happen every few hundred years, so the dates are going to be different for each "Day" of Fury. One happened about 12,000 years ago, another 10,000 years ago, likely another 3,237 years ago, then two more known ones (one 1,200 years ago according to Athair, and the most recent in 3236).
See Days of Fury at Mobius Encyclopaedia for further explanation. *shameless plug* _________________

Yes, I'm aware that they retconned it to being multiple events to avoid the contradictions, but that same explanation also said they were a natural event. Then the Xorda came along and said they were responsible for gene bombing the planet so far back into the stone age that nobody on the even remembered who had bombed them. Then Issac said that he had been around for the days of fury 12,000 years ago. Then his data was revealed to be corrupt.
So yeah, keeping track of it gets pretty confusing, since the Day of Fury that occurred in the Knuckles comic was NOT the same event, or even the same TYPE of event as what is, I think, supposed to be the MAIN day of fury that everyone is always talking about, that is, the Xorda bombing.
Also, Mogul's stated age defies the 3000 years ago date, since the Xorda were supposedly responsible for Mobians evolving, and in Mogul's introduction he claims to be over 10,000 and to have ruled the world "not long after the days of fury" or something approximating that quote, since I don't have the specific issue to hand. Of course, that might have been retconned when I wasn't looking, or he's lying, or just plain senile.
So, whether it's been satisfactorily explained or not, it still has a history rife with confusion. |

Let's not forget that this change in behavior happened in the course of one night. I'm betting that Snively should have learned Friengi Rule of Acquisition #48: The bigger the smile, the sharper the knife. I don't think 200 is going to end well. Obviously Eggman is going to lose but as for Snively... only Ian knows for sure. _________________
