On rereading my post, I realize I left out a critical piece of information: I haven't played Rivals or Rivals 2. At all. No PSP for me. Thus, all my information is secondhand.
That said, I was referring specifically to Nega being Robotik's descendant, not just being in the future. (Something I also failed to mention. That's what I get for trying to be brief.) I have no doubt that the same guy is both in the future and in Blaze's world.
I still think it's possible that he misled Silver and/or Blaze as to where he's originally from, and they reproduced that misinformation for Sonic & co. (and the player). I doubt that either one is just chock full of accurate information about Nega.
Sorry about that. _________________ "I have often been sorry for having spoken, but never for holding my tongue."

personally, I think that Silver has a few mental issues. I suppose I could blame it on his reality-bending mind powers, but the guy, isn't very bright. _________________

| It's called being naive. He's a kid, of course he's not going to know everything, it makes his character more believable, and more entertaining. It's a nice change from all the new grimdark characters that've been showing up. |
