Yes, you've read he Topic Title aright --my dabbling in the musical arts has finally paid off to some extent! I have been hired to compose the score (aka music) for an upcoming documentary/film concerning perception,
Re, by Neizar Nassar. You can see the project page
here. (caution: some mild language present in small quantities in the related articles.)
Now, being that this is a "student film", there is no "pay" up front. I've been granted a share of any potential profits, but the main draw of this development is that I will be a composition credit in my musical endeavors. One project like this often leads to work with other film students, which may lead to festival appearances. Getting my name out there with music that people like would certainly be something nice!
Anyway, Neizar Nassar had posted the position on a film sight I frequent, and I submitted some of my work. He enjoyed it, and asked me to compose a rough cut of a theme fitting for the purpose of his film. Three days and two rough cuts later, I produced
this short piece, featuring a Double Bass and two Cellos. Within two hours of his receipt of the music, he hired me.
Needless to say, I am overjoyed by this recent development. I thank God and my family for the support they've provided and continue to provide.
