FCBD 2014/Sonic Comic Origins Preview

Sonic Comic Origins needs it's own thread. I don't know why we've been talking about it in the reprints thread for so long.

The Free Comic Book Day website updated their preview of this year's Sonic and Mega Man flipbook with fully finished pages. We now have the first two pages of Sonic Comic Origins.

Lots of stuff today. Pretty cool, I thought we'd see the story, but it seems more like a recap. I wonder what's up with Sally & Rotor, they couldn't possibly be in a relationship, they were fairly young when the story started.

They could be going on the order of reveal of countdown to chaos or I don't know. Granted it shortens the time of releasing the origins story.

Cool, The Sky patrol has a simulator room, what doesn't it have?
Maybe Archie should start doing a breakdown of features in the sky patrol and for "new" Old Mobotropolis like they did back round issue 180.

I really like Rosie's redesign. I think it looks a lot like her old one but tweaked a little. It's nice.

I find it kind of funny the biggest difference to Young Sally's design is she wears gloves. She looks basically the same.

The Chroology nut in me is really curious where the Sky Patrol scene takes place. Best I can Guess is between the Chase and Waves of Change but I'm not too sure on that. They really haven't had a chance to stop and train since #256.

It could very well be after the Shattered World Crisis has ended, it's just a general spot in time that can happen at any point.

Every story will have a look at a different character's past.

SSD#7: Rotor
SSD#8: Antoine

I could be wrong, though.

And with this, the last of the SatAM characters that can come back has been mentioned in some form, methinks. Everyone else has either shown up before now or been mentioned (hello Lupe and Dulcy).

You know, the more I see the new King Acorn, the more I'm starting to warm up to him. Just from that one panel about Sally's childhood, you can tell their relationship was almost completely different from the old universe.

I was wondering if Rosie was ever going to pop up. Now we need to see if she's still around in the present day. I'm kinda surprised she still looks kinda old though, even in the flashbacks.

And the Sky Patrol has it's own Danger Room, eh? Neat. Count me among the number who would like to see just what exactly that ship has on board.

This is definitely more interesting than the old timeline feature.

Finally we get to see Lamar Well's penciling in action without Tracey's layouts. Loving it!

For the Mega Man side why does the line calls X, "Mega Man X"? It could be confusing since Archie already calls him X in the comics. It's just a little nitpick so I'm not worried about it.

I look at the website and the free comic lineup is looking good. I'm so excited for the Street Fighter Comic!

You know, since it looks like these origin stories will be for each Freedom Fighter, I'm guessing they'll be the featured stories in Sonic Selects 10?
